In historic Jim Thorpe, the team investigated The Mauch Chunk Opera House. The building, built in 1881, was used for many purposes in it's long history. HPS went in to investigate the claims at this location. It was a pretty quiet night, except for about two hours during the investigation. During this time, we had a few personal experiences ranging from cold breezes, emf fluctuations and the feeling of being touched. After reviewing the evidence, we had only found evps. The evps coincide with a member's personal experience of hearing whistling on the floor above.
These evps have been cleaned of background noise which is why they sound like they may have an echo. The first evp was collected in the old projector room of the theater. The evp sounds like a short whistle and then a quick whisper of "hiya".Listen to the evp HERE.
The second evp stands out a little more. You can hear investigators talking but starting right before and during the conversation, you can hear someone whistling a song. Listen to this evp HERE.
After reviewing all of the evidence and combining it with the personal experiences of the members, we believe that The Mauch Chunk Opera House definitely has paranormal activity. We do not have sufficient evidence to claim it as a haunting but definitely activity. We would like to thank the historical society for allowing us the opportunity to investigate the opera house.
